Bowls News Update

More disappointment in the Farnham & District Mixed Triples League with another heavy defeat this week, keep your heads up guys as we still look for our first victory this season. Hopefully everyone is aware that the draw for all internal competitions has been made and are on the notice board in the cabin. We have had mixed results in the various County, District single, pairs and triples competitions this year and would urge members to keep an eye on the rink bookings and on WhatsApp and hopefully come along and support your fellow members.

Both teams get a win

Both the A and B teams got a win on Tuesday evening with the A team winning 4-1 away at Pyestock and the B team winning 4-1 at home to Farnborough.

This moves the A team up to fourth in league one and the B team are now off the bottom of league two in seventh place.

On one of the rinks for the A team Steve Stairs, Bill Thripp, Dave Whitehead and Doug Stewart managed to score an eight which is called a hotshot on one end.

This evening the Farnham and District team play Farnham in a league game.

Bowls results & fixtures

Mixed results last week with the “A” team winning, “B” team loosing ,Mixed triples narrowly loosing, the Men’s national two fours again a narrow defeat and the disappointment of having to withdraw from the National Top Club. This coming week we see the “A” team at home to Seal & Sands, the “B” team travel to Hawley while the Mixed Triples take on Farnborough, good luck to all players 👏👏

National 2 Fours Competition

Following our victory away to Alton the Traco men’s team travelled to Oakley (not a happy hunting ground in days gone by ). Far from being intimidated both rinks started steadily and were always in contention with some excellent bowls played by both teams. Alas rink 1 were finally defeated 15 – 12. At this time rink 2 were leading by 1 with 2 ends to play but lost 3 shots on the penultimate end , we therefore needed 5 on final end. With the jack taken out the rink the end had to replayed, we were holding 4 with both skips to play we were getting excited- great shot by their skip reduced it to just 1, rink 2 beaten 17 – 16.Brilliant effort guys no disgrace loosing to such a high ranking team. Onwards and upwards👏👏👏

Farnham & District League

Farnham and District F&D) performance so far

We are playing our third match in the F&D league this week against Mytchett.  The previous two games have been against Tongham and Fleet United where the away teams had great results, winning on both rinks. Unfortunately, the home teams didn’t do so well losing on both rinks.  The shots against us have been in the high numbers which means we are currently near the bottom of Division 1.  This week’s game could change this situation so I am hopeful that all rinks will win with a high number of shots.  Let’s hope the lucky bowl’s fairy is on our side this week! Busy Week For Traco Bowlers

This coming week is a busy one for our bowlers.

Tuesday we have the two teams playing in A+D league with the A team playing at home to Yateley B and the B team are away to Cove B

Wednesday sees the F+D team playing Mytchett .

Whilst on Thursday evening we travel to Oakley in the 2 rink fours in the national cup.

Then on Saturday morning we travel to Liphook bowls club in the Top Club.

So as you see it is a busy schedule for us.

Bowls & Croquet Social Afternoon Sunday 9th June @ 2pm

It is planned to hold a social game of bowls with our croquet members to give us the opportunity to get to know each other, have a drink a bite to eat a pleasant afternoon and maybe even encourage croquet members to give bowls a go in the future. It is our intention in the near future to hold a similar event to allow our bowls members to give croquet a bash. Please come along and support YOUR club!

Start of Bowls Season

Tuesday 7 May is the start of the new season for the Aldershot and District league.

The A team travel across the border to Farnham whilst the B team play Underwood at home with both games starting at 6-30pm.

The A team will be looking to bounce back up to the premier league from where they were relegated last season, whilst the B team under the guidance of Steve Ramsay will be looking to continue there form after getting promoted from division 3 to division 2.

We are always looking for new bowlers so if you are interested in playing bowls please come along and give it a go either on a Friday between 4-00pm and 6-00pm or a Sunday between 10-00am and 12-00pm.

National Men’s Club Two Fours Competition

Fantastic result in our first match of the season for our Men’s Bowls team going to Alton and coming away victorious. One rink winning comfortably and other rink loosing by one point on the final bowl but with the team winning 33 – 24 overall and can now look forward to another away game to either Andover or Oakley in the next round. Congratulations Guys.
